Catch Bar Squats

Exercise Description
– Using the Smith Machine, hold the unloaded bar on the back of the shoulders at the base of the neck
– Slowly bend your knees while keeping your torso erect to a ‘catch’ bar placed at the point of 45 degrees of knee flexion (this is the point at which you should set the safety bars so that the barbell is fully supported by the rack)
– Rest the bar briefly on the catch bar, ensure correct back position and return to standing position with explosive movement
